2007 Kili Tanzania Music Awards kicks off on 23rd March

The nomination of contenders for this year's Kilimanjaro Music Award commenced on 23 rd March 2007 for all over the country

The TBL Kilimanjaro Premium Lager Brand Manager, Oscar Shelukindo, said that voting for nominees listed for the awards would be made through short messages (SMS), Kili Website www.kilitimetz.com and coupons available from 23 rd March Newspapers onwards and that voting started all over Tanzania. TBL are sponsoring the event in collaboration with Celtel, Tanzania Music Award Committee and National Art Council, BASATA.

Shelukindo said each category would comprise five artistes and that after completion of voting, five nominees, who would scoop many votes in their categories, would be announced as winners for this year's award.

The public would start voting again to pick the best artiste among the five in each category to win the award.

TBL, who have been sponsoring the Kili Music award for five consecutive years now, announced a few changes in this year's event, which exclude from the competition the best R & B and Hip-Pop albums saying that it was difficult for judges to pick the best nominee as most of the albums comprised mixed music styles.

Speaking during a press conference, Celtel Marketing Manager, Constantino Magavile said his company was once again supporting the event because it aimed at the development of Tanzanian Music and improving life in tandem with his company slogan- Celtel- Making life better.
