Music Awards 2007 for Central Zone!

Music Awards 2006 would this time take on board
Central Zone on top of the North west, North
east and Southern zones to expand opportunities
to musicians from these regions.
The kilimanjaro Premium Lager brand manager,
Oscar Shelukindo said in Dar es salaam yesterday
that the Tanzania Breweries through his brand
decided to promote the country music and encourage
Tanzanians to appreciate and value local Music.
Mr. Shelikindo explained that the event also
aims at among other things , discovering new
talents,reward established Musicians , reduce
the dominance of foreign music and to bring
to
prominence local artists as well as to expose
Tanzanian music in the International market.
He said that the director of music department
at the Tanzania Art Council, Angelo Luhala and
his committee of expirienced DJs, music tutors
journalists and such stake holders would coordinate
and supervise all technical aspests of the zonal
events.
According to him, the method for getting winners
would include public participation from 3rd
to 24th April , by voting system through newspaper
coupons, text mesages, email and their www.kilitimetz.com.
The nominations process would last for three
weeks,from April 3rd where five nominations
per category would be released for the public
voting on April 27 to obtain final category
winners , he said.
Mr. Shelukindo mentioned the categories for
competition as best female and male vocalists,
best Taraab Album and Singer,best song of the
year, best swahili Rhythms single and Album
(band),
best Tanzanian folk music single and Album and
best Hip hop single and Album.
Other categories he mentioned were, best Reggae/Ragga
rhythms single , best religious music,best East
African Album, best music composer,best song
producer and writer,best Tanzanian video producer,
hall of fame and best upcoming zonal muscian.
He however, said the overall winners in Best
Zonal Tradition Group/Musician and best up coming
Group/musician modern would be automatically
placed in winners` category list without going
throug the public voting system.
On his side the Director of music department
at the Tanzania Art Council, Angelo Luhala urged
musicians to expand their knowledge for national
and International opportunities.
To be credible,musicians should utterly rely
on their own work and ignore the copying behavior
that most of them are accussed of, he insisted.
Mr. Luhala advised musicians to avoid shortcuts
by consulting lawyers before signing any contracts
with their distributors to shun unnecessary
copyright complications, which had been hindering
their progress for quite a long time.
This year's Kilimanjaro Premium Lager Tanzania
Music Awards would as well mark the %th anniverssary
of building this brand's image with the Tanzania
music culture.
