2008 Kilimanjaro Music Awards take off again

The Kili Tanzania Music Awards 2008 was yesterday May 5th 2008 launched in Dar es Salaam. Mr. Oscar Shelukindo, the Kilimanjaro Premium Lager Brand Manager said during the launch that his firm was proud to stage the event for the seventh time consecutively with the aim of promoting music in the country.

He said there would be 20 categories to be vied for and that nomination exercises would be held from May 9-28. .

Shelukindo said names of five nominees in every category would be released on June 2 ready for the public voting. .

He disclosed some of the categories to be contested for as best female vocalist, best male vocalist, best taarab single, best song of the year, best Swahili rhyms single and best Tanzania folk music single.

Others are best East African album, best R&B album, best hip-hop single, best music composer, best song writer and best Tanzania video producer.
